Digital label press with no click charge: how do you pay?

Short answer

With a click charge you pay the maker a fee for every print, on top of the machine. The UV inkjet presses Printum sells have no click charge: your production cost is ink, substrate and machine time, and you control it.

What a click charge is

Some digital presses are sold with a service contract that charges a fee per print or per printed meter. The fee usually bundles consumables and maintenance, but you keep paying for as long as the machine runs.

The effect is that your cost per label has a fixed floor that does not drop as you produce more, and it depends on a contract with the maker.

How you pay with no click charge

With a UV inkjet press and no click charge you buy the machine and then pay only for what you use: UV ink, primer or varnish when used, substrate, and machine and operator time.

Since there are no plates or setup, starting a job costs little, which is what makes short runs and variable data profitable.

What to check when quoting

Ask whether there is a fee per print or per meter, what the service contract covers, who supplies the ink and how fast, and whether installation and training are included.

At Printum, installation, start-up and training for operators and maintenance are included, with remote and on-site support and ink supplied in Mexico.
