Digital embellishment: how do you do raised varnish and cold foil with no plates?

Short answer

A digital embellishment unit lays down UV varnish with height and applies foil only where the file says, with no plates, screens or dies. It replaces screen printing and embossing on short runs and can run inline with the press or standalone.

Raised varnish

UV varnish is printed in layers to add height and tactile texture, from a spot gloss finish up to the relief braille requires.

Digital cold foil

The unit prints an adhesive in the shape of the design and transfers foil only there. Since the shape comes from the file, changing designs needs no tooling.

Inline or standalone

The Pulisi · Aobead DCFS comes in single or dual station, in 330, 850 and 1250 mm, built into the digital press or as a separate unit to embellish already printed labels.

Substrates

PET, PVC, PP, PE and BOPP films; synthetic, coated and art papers; and specialty stocks such as thermal, aluminum foil and shrink film.
